ON-SITE

The jobs that should never come back on a truck
A hood already hung, a balustrade already bolted, a production line that cannot stop for a week, a bench that has to be closed after the walls went up — those are on-site jobs. Bringing them back to Minto would cost more than the weld and would still need a second visit to refit.
Mobile welding is also how we handle modifications: a new penetration, a changed set-down, a repair after a collision in a loading dock. The metal is already in service. The skill is to match the existing work so the repair does not announce itself.
We treat this as a planned service, not an emergency-only extra. If you already know the install will need site welds, book it with the fabrication. Surprise site welding is how programmes slip.
What a crew actually needs on the ground
Access, power, parking and a safe hot-work environment are not paperwork. They decide whether we can do the job that day. A live kitchen, a public stair and a plant room all have different isolation and fire-watch needs. Tell us which one we are walking into.
The crew brings workshop-grade process to the site: the same concern for penetration, cleanliness and finish, with the extra constraint of working around other trades. We cannot run a 135T pressbrake in a basement. We can weld, dress, fit and make the kind of adjustments that drawings never quite capture.
If the repair needs a new folded part, that part is still made in the shop and brought out. Mobile welding is not an excuse to fabricate a whole kitchen on the floor. It is the join between factory work and the building.
Matching existing stainless
The hardest on-site work is invisible work: blending a new section into an old bench, extending a rail, closing a gap that appeared after the tiler packed a wall. Grain, weld colour and edge profile have to meet the original. That takes patience and the right consumables, not a bigger grinder.
We will say when a “repair” is actually a replacement. There is no honour in welding a patch that will fail in six months because the surrounding metal is already tired. A honest recommendation is part of the visit.
Coastal and food-grade repairs have the same grade rules as new work. Do not ask us to stitch 304 onto a 316 balcony rail and expect it to disappear. We will match metal to metal.
Australia-wide, still a workshop job
The shop is in Minto, NSW. The work is not limited to the south-west. On-site welding and installation are how we service clients who are not around the corner, provided the visit is scoped: what is being welded, what we bring, what the site must provide.
Send photographs, the original drawing if you have it, and a description of access. A five-minute video of the joint is worth more than a paragraph of adjectives. We will tell you if it is a mobile visit, a workshop job, or both.
If you are still in design, read this as a warning label: design so that as much as possible is made in the factory. Use mobile welding for the pieces that truly cannot travel. That split is how quality stays high and site days stay few.
TAKE INTO THE BRIEF
- 01
SCOPE THE VISIT
Access, hot work, parking and what must be made in the shop first. Site welding is planned work, not a surprise.
- 02
MATCH THE EXISTING
Grain, grade and profile have to meet the original metal. A loud patch is a failed repair.
- 03
FACTORY FIRST
Fold and weld in Minto wherever you can. Bring the crew only for the joints the building still owns.
